Coptic Primary & Secondary School Proposal

We are planning to open a Coptic primary and secondary school to educate the children in Auki. The proposal is to purchase the existing primary & secondary school in Auki that caters for 800 children. We are looking at improvising and managing the school. We will set up an administrative & management committee to oversee and run the school.

First Mission Trip in Solomon Islands

In December 2019, Fr Mark Attalla and Fr Sourial Sourial went on the first mission trip to the Solomon Islands. The fathers visited Manaoba Island, Auki and Honiara. They prayed the first Divine Liturgy and conducted the first Bible Study in Auki. They visited a run down school in the village. The fathers also organized Sunday school and activities for the kids and spent time with them. The kids absolutely loved it. There was a great interest among the congregation and they wanted to know more about our church and faith. It was a very successful mission trip.

Fr Mark Attalla & St John and St Verenaโ€™s Church- Melbourne Youth Mission Trip in February 2020

A small group of eight youth and a senior servant accompanied Father Mark on a mission trip to the Solomon Islands in February this year.

We landed in Honiara, and travelled to Auki of the Malaita province, where the community was awaiting our arrival. We began holding daily Bible studies and communal meals, and praying a liturgy. We prepared gift baskets with Bibles and necessities for the families we were supporting.

We then visited the school of Auki, which we were interested in purchasing, to meet with the principle and inspect the site. We also came across Sister Dorine at the markets, and were invited to visit her home for women escaping violence, and gave them financial support for the completion of the home. We were also invited to the Kingdom Church of Auki where Father Mark gave a talk and we were hosted for dinner.
