Welcome
By the Grace of God and under the auspices of HH Pope Tawadros II, The Coptic Orthodox Church arrived in the Solomon Islands in late 2019 through the guidance and direction of the Holy Spirit. By the October 2019, the Church was legally registered as an entity and obtained charity and operational status.
Shortly after the first missionary trip of its kinds to the Solomon Islands took place with the arrival of the missionary priests, Fr Mark Attalla and Fr Sourial Sourial, a group of dedicate youth as well as spiritual and administrative servants from Melbourne – Australia.
Landing in Auki, the capital of the Province of Malaita (the largest province of the island group) the cohort met with a number of the local political leaders, including the Premier The Hon Daniel Suidani as well as other political and community leaders, where they were warmly welcomed, given audience and had the opportunity to pray and play with the local community and their children.
In January 2020, services had formally begun with the arrival of yet another group of administrative and the first church family members congregated and welcomed the team. Starting with 10 families, they were later joined by Fr Anthony Lemuelu from Fiji where they had quickly grown to 130 members in a time span of no more than a few months and had built a temporary church on a property lent for free by one of the congregants to the Church until a more permanent site is to be secured in God’s own time.
Without your prayers and support, this service would never have come to fruition. Please keep them in your prayers and that God may provide the right servants for the right services that He ordains in order to best serve and grow and connect us with our newest family members in the Solomon Islands.
